Montana Clean Indoor Air Act Complaint of Violation Form
The Montana Clean Indoor Air Act (CIAA) prohibits smoking, including the use of marijuana and e-cigarettes, in all enclosed
public places
(Title 50, Chapter 40, Part 1, MCA).
It also requires establishments containing an enclosed public place to post a sign in a conspicuous manner at all
public entrances stating that smoking is prohibited.
In addition, tobacco products of any kind, including e-cigarettes, are not permitted on public school property at any time (§ 20-1-220, MCA).

All complaints concerning violations of the CIAA are a matter of public record.
For complaints to be considered as evidence of a violation, you must provide your name,
address, and phone number.
If you choose to remain anonymous, the complaint will be considered
non-actionable until a local Tobacco Education Specialist contacts the establishment and observes a violation firsthand.
If you have any questions or want to contact a Tobacco Education Specialist in your area, call 1-866-787-5247 or email
