As the DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) Program Specialist, you will be responsible for accomplishing Federal – aid program objectives for the Montana Department of Transportation; fostering productive relationships within the department and with other partners and customers at State, Local and Tribal levels.
Day to day responsibilites of the program include the review of certification applications, conducting on site inspections with applicants, answering inquiries from prospective applicants and development and conducting of training to address the specific needs of the applicant firms.
You will represent the office of Civil Rights and the Directors office on federal aid program issues such as DBE eligibility recommendations, investigating charges of discrimination, compliance monitoring and managing data reporting functions for the program.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated skills and abilities such as:
Strong knowledge of business and personal taxes
Knowledge of business management
Interpersonal and communication skills and relationship managment, specifically with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and cultures;
Skills with public speaking and adult training;
Ability to analyze technical information for the purpose of formulating reccommendations.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, Education, Social Work or a related field. Two years of job related work experience in program planning and/or program coordination. Experience working with federal grants is preferred.
