Mountain States Transmission Intertie (MSTI) Alternatives
Under Major Facility Siting Act administrative rules, an applicant is required to submit to DEQ an application describing its proposed alignment and a minimum of two alternatives to construct a 500 kV electric transmission line. The following maps are being provided on an interim basis for members of the public to view detailed line location for NorthWestern Energy's proposed alignment and its two alternative locations. The alignments and siting considerations shown are based on data received from NorthWestern Energy's consultant and ammended by the involved agencies.

Preliminary Access Roads
Assumed New Road
Assumed Cross Country Construction & Maintenance Travel
** The construction access mapping is indicative of possible and assumed access considerations. This effort was developed for alternative route comparison to satisfy MFSA Circular 2, Section 3.7 (7), only using existing USDA NAIP aerial photography and USGS DRG topographic quad data. This effort is based on the assumed centerlines shown. All access road information is subject to change pending completion of final engineering design on the selected route for the project. All access routes and roads on private property (temporary or permanent) are a condition of individual landowner negotiation and approval and are shown here for alternative route comparison only.
