DEQ Accepting Public Comments on Plum Creek Reclamation Bond Releases
Helena – The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has received a request from Plum Creek Timberlands for a full release of the bond held for the reclamation of four rock quarries in Missoula and Lincoln counties.
Plum Creek has completed reclamation of three rock quarries in Missoula County at the Tevis Landing Site #40, Rock Tevis Site #41 and Rock Tevis Site #42. DEQ has inspected the three sites and proposes a complete bond release of $5,908.
Plum Creek has also requested bond release based on completed reclamation for Rail Rock Site #36 in Lincoln County. DEQ has inspected the site and proposes a complete bond release of $4,475. Plum Creek has requested this site to remain permitted. If the company decides to quarry additional rock in the future, DEQ will require the site to be bonded again.
DEQ may not release or decrease a bond until the public has been given an opportunity for a hearing and a hearing has been held as requested. Requests for a hearing, comments on the proposed bond release, or requests for additional information should be sent to: DEQ Environmental Management Bureau, P. O. Box 200901, 1520 E.
