Conference on Economic, Waste Management and Recycling Issues Slated for Bozeman
(HELENA) The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is offering a three-day conference September 12 – 14 at the Bozeman Holiday Inn on economic issues communities face in waste management, recycling, and renewable energy development. Community leaders and attendees will learn about the latest energy-efficient waste management strategies and technologies from experts in their respective fields.
The keynote speaker is Heidi Sanborn, a well-known expert on solid waste issues in the West. She will address problems on the horizon for Montana landfill facilities and the communities that rely on them. Other sessions include presentations on:
• developing landfill gas,
• launching community recycling initiatives,
• textile and electronics recycling,
• transportation and outdoor lighting solutions,
• and community wastewater treatment options.
Joint sessions on financing community sustainability projects and incentives will also be presented. Preconference workshops, trainings, and field trips are also planned. The cost of the conference is $99 and includes meals.
