DEQ Downgrades Laurel Boil Order to Health Advisory
Helena -- The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has notified the town of Laurel that the Boil Order issued on Wednesday has been downgraded to a health advisory.
A health advisory allows the residents to use the drinking water without boiling but still advises consumers that have health concerns, such those with a weakened immune system, to continue to boil their drinking water or use bottled water.
This downgrade is based on repairs to the water system made after a water main was broken on Tuesday July 25. The Laurel Municipal Water System performed repairs and chlorine residuals are being maintained throughout the distribution system. Samples have been collected and results are expected on Friday. The health advisory will be in place until satisfactory laboratory results from the sampling have been received.
Members of the public with questions may call the City of Laurel Public Works Department at 406-628-4796.
