Helena – The Montana Oil Pipeline Safety Review Council will meet Friday, August 17 from 10:00 am – Noon in the East and West Auditorium of the Montana Department of Transportation Building at 2701 Prospect Avenue in Helena.

The agenda includes update on improvements made to pipelines in Montana by the US DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and a discussion of public comments that were submitted on the Draft Report to Governor. Public comment is welcome on any other subject matter relevant to the Council duties.

The members of the Montana Oil Pipeline Safety Review Council are MT Department of Environmental Quality Director Richard Opper, MT Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Director Mary Sexton and MT Department of Transportation Director Tim Reardon.

The Council was established by Governor Brian Schweitzer in the wake of the Exxon Mobile Silvertip pipeline spill in July 2011. The purpose of the council is to advise the Governor on the status of existing oil pipelines running underneath Montana’s rivers and stream beds and to make recommendations to prevent future failures.

Reasonable accommodations to participate in the meeting will be provided upon request for people with disabilities. If you require a specific accommodation, please contact Bonnie Lovelace at 406-444-1760 or by email at
