DEQ Extends Public Comment Period on New Underground Storage Tank Facility in Circle
(Helena) The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Underground Storage Tank program, has extended the comment period on an Environmental Assessment for a proposed underground storage tank facility until May 25, 2012. The proposed facility will be located at the former Drive In Café location in Circle, Montana.
This project involves installing 3 underground storage tanks. The tanks will be used for the storage of gasoline and diesel fuel. System monitoring will be accomplished with internal tank probes and sensors for all tanks with continuous sensor monitoring for all containment sumps. An automatic tank gauge will monitor all operating parameters and will shut down the system on any indication of a problem.
The DEQ prepares environmental assessments to inform interested government agencies, public groups, or individuals of a proposed action and to determine whether or not the action may have a significant effect on the human or natural environment.
The Environmental Assessment for this project is published at http://www.deq.mt.gov/ea.mcpx. Public comments will be accepted until May 25, 2012. Comments must be in writing and can be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to DEQ Underground Storage Tank Program at P.O. Box 200901, Helena, MT, 59620-0901. Following the comment period the DEQ will determine what actions to take regarding this permit application.
