Great Falls Company Resolves Opencut Enforcement Action
HELENA— Trophy Property Developers, Inc. paid the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) a $960 penalty to resolve a violation of the Montana Opencut Mining Act.
In October 2010, DEQ issued an administrative order citing Trophy for failing to submit the 2008 and 2009 annual progress report for its gravel pit operations in Cascade County, Montana. The order assessed a $960 penalty for the violation. Trophy returned to compliance by submitting the delinquent progress reports and paying the assessed administrative penalty.
Persons who have questions about the requirements for opencut mining operations may contact DEQ’s Opencut Mining Program at (406) 444-4970 or should visit DEQ’s web site at www.deq.mt.gov.
