Miles City Company Resolves Opencut Mining Violation
Helena -- Doug Emeline, doing business as Miles City Ready Mix, paid the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) a $480 penalty to resolve a violation of the Montana Opencut Mining Act.
In January 2012, DEQ issued an administrative order citing Emeline for failing to submit the 2010 annual progress report for its gravel pit operation in Custer County, Montana. The Order assessed a $480 penalty for the violation.
Emeline returned to compliance with the Act by submitting the delinquent progress report and paying the assessed administrative penalty.
Persons who have questions about the requirements for opencut mining operations may contact DEQ’s Opencut Mining Program at (406) 444-4970 or should visit DEQ’s web site at www.deq.mt.gov
