Miles City Resolves Opencut Mining Violation
Helena -- Miles City paid the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) a $480 penalty to resolve a violation of the Montana Opencut Mining Act.
In January 2012, the DEQ issued an Administrative Order citing the city for failing to submit the 2010 annual progress report for its gravel pit operations in Custer County, Montana. The order assessed a $480 penalty for the violation. Miles City returned to compliance by submitting the delinquent progress report and paying the penalty.
