Wolf Creek Restaurant Resolves Public Drinking Water Violations
Helena --- The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has settled its administrative enforcement action against The Frenchman and Me for violations of the Montana Public Water Supply Laws at The Frenchman and Me public water supply located in Wolf Creek, Lewis and Clark County.
In the February 2010 Notice of Violation and Administrative Compliance and Penalty Order, the DEQ cited The Frenchman and Me for exceeding the maximum contaminant level for total coliform bacteria, failing to provide public notice of the monitoring violations, and failing to report the monitoring violations to the department.
To resolve the violations, The Frenchman and Me developed a new groundwater source, conducted sampling as required, posted public notice as required by the law, and paid a $278.00 penalty.
For additional information on the Public Water Supply Program and laws, please contact DEQ's Public Water Supply and Subdivisions Bureau at (406) 444-4400 or visit DEQ’s website at www.deq.mt.gov.
